Lots of filler removed, which unfortunately includes some epic lines/dialogues.

Toned down violence.

That's the whole point of kai tho. You can watch a quick couple episodes and get significant story progression that you would need 10 episodes from the original. I will admit tho the major selling point of Kai comes AFTER you've watched the countless hours of the original Z. But I find most of my favorite iconic lines of dialogue are intact. Original WAS bloodier and that is something Kai lacks.

Yeah, okay, I get that... but why the toned down violence?

It makes KAI feel like... like... *takes a deep breath* like Dragon Ball Super.

Majin Vegeta's ones were botched up.

I actually forgot they did Kai past the cell saga. For years they never got to the buu saga. I have to check that one out. But the violence wasn't really changed it was just...less blood. Like the people who got killed in Z got killed the same way in Kai just with less blood. If the choreography is actually cool I can forgive alot...but just for the plot and characters being who they are its still head and shoulders above Super lol

I doubt Frieza was torturing Krillin in KAI like he was doing in Z.

Justice League Snydercut will give you AIDS

Seriously, though.

Haven't you heard? They want to release it in 2021 for HBOMAX, lol.

If you enjoyed the snydercut of BvS, this is something for you, I guess.

30 years later:

Snyder: "Okay guys, here's the Ultimate-Ultimate-Super-Hyper-(almost)Final Snydercut of Justice League, hopefully someone will like it now"

DBZ kai is an awesome edit of the series. Trims a TON of the fat. Its paced more like the manga was.
But Kai didn't have Falconer's scores, did it?

Only the fan-edited kai scenes on yt have Falconer soundtrack, afaik.

Johns canonized the continuities to an extent, but it seems like Snyder is really pushing to unite them all here.

that's too big of a task for a single writer to fix

DDD really ****ed dc over, big time.

DBZ without Faulconer's scores isn't nearly as good, imo.

No need to put "imo" in your post... it is the truth.

Only a Spider-Man fan would enjoy DBZ without its violence and without Bruce Faulconer's music.

Jay is getting banned this year.

I prefer the Japanese original tunes. Cha La Head Cha La and this classic:

I love naruto for nostalgic reason, and I don't think it fall off that hard. at least not until madara became sixth paths and naruto/sasuke became overpowered. naruto is great because of side characters and antagonists. I never cared about naruto/sasuke/kakashi, when characters like obito/madara/itachi/minato/hashirama/nagato etc are all amazing.

The only one of those characters I care about is Madara and mostly because he's such a shithead he's at least fun to read.

the animation is terrible at later part of the story. so I read the manga mostly. shippuden was great during pain's saga

I borderline exclusively read the manga and frankly I found Pain's arc one of if not the weakest of the arcs in the series because he was such a melodramatic b!tch and my problems with Naruto the character started really coming to light at this time, though I honestly have trouble remembering it.

I can't agree with you about the animation, at least not entirely. The final fight with Sasuke and Madara bamboozling the Great Ninja Alliance were some of the best-looking fights in the series.

JOJO part 2 is my favorite too. but all parts are great, for me as far as anime

2>4>5>3>1

For me it's 2>4>1>3>5.

Dragon Ball is more like guilty pleasure for me nowadays, and I won't watch original anime since half the episode is just screaming flexing and charging up. I'd still read manga. only original db, then stops at cell saga in dbz. for me cell saga was the perfect end for dragon ball. what came after that was second rate.

That's what I mean when I say it was inconsistent. Toriyama wanted to end the series at several different points and it really shows.

The anime is unwatchable though yeah, so since we're talking about anime specifically I guess I agree.

and honestly I'd watch dbz abridged instead.

Rest in piece.

one piece has always been hot garbage imo, I like some parts, Doflamingo was a great character, but it's crucial flaw is that the author tried to build a world way too big with way too many people stuffed into it. which progress the plot way too slow. some people enjoy this, but for people like me who watched one piece back since early 00s, it became a waste of time.

OP's pacing isn't particularly slow for the most part, it's just very long. I have no problem with OP when each arc has something happening in it. I dropped OP when after the timeskip we got something like three and a half full arcs where Luffy and his crew curbstomp pathetic villains who never had a chance against them in long meandering arcs where there is no tension.

for me top 10 animes of all time

1. Fist of the North Star
2. JOJO
3. Naruto
4. Dragon Ball
5. Ergo Proxy
6. Gundam Z
7. Wicked City
8. Neon Genesis Evangelion
9. Shigurui
10. Ninja Scroll

Not counting movies:

1. Neon Genesis Evangelion
2. Cowboy Bebop
3. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica
4. Made in Abyss
5. Fate/zero
6. Aim for the Top! Gunbuster and Diebuster
7. Kill la Kill
8. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
9. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
10. Katanagatari

Counting movies opens up a lot of shit. I also have an old myanimelist account. I haven't updated it or even logged in in a long time but it has a lot of what I've seen (and read for that matter).

If only. I love Kill la Kill but in a lot of ways it has a lot of problems.

Eva? 😱

I mean, when it came out it was groundbreaking stuff, but those last few episodes.

I know they tried to fix that later, but damage was done. I needed a shot of Ranma 1/2 binging to recover from the damage Eva did to my soul.

Not a one Gundam on the list. Not a fan?

Or how about Macross?

I don't have a boomer's taste in anime, no. 👇

Ok, let me recommend one thing I think you'll like.

And it's something I only got into relatively recently myself.

Space Battleship Yamato, a.k.a. Star Blazers.

See the new version, then see "Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato", then do whatever you want because that's as far as I got.

It's mostly about getting to FWTSBY, which is non canon but simply amazing. It's too bad they sold out to continue the franchise, because the finish was about as spectacular and memorable as it gets.
