You're not familiar with any of the writers, cdtm.

So you should stop trying to discuss their work.

You didn't even know Claremont wrote CoC II.

Ot course I know that.

My point is thar Ultimates existed to take chances, without shaking up the status quo in mainstream Marvel.

Some of it worked, a lot didn't, but none of it affected 616.

Like Jason Aaron and his complete retcon of 616 Thor.

He didn't retcon him.

He was just honest about the character being shit.

lol

They worked so "well"... even the DC writers themselves are mocking DC?

COIE and New 52 are DC's two main super-hard resets. They were both fine even if N52 fell apart after.

Zero Hour and IC were semi-resets, and they were fine too.

Nobody at DC nowadays has room to talk given the state of everything.

Mark Millar can be really awesome.

Too bad it didn't last longer than that.

Ultimate Universe had great beginnings in general. Then went all to shit.

Yeah. Ultimate stuff was really strong at the start even if the signs were there of what it would turn in to.

And Claremont isn't the best Iron Fist writer anyways, his Danny had a lot of lows. Hit Cage with his "best Iron Fist" and didn't even stun him.

Owlsley is the one you want for the strongest Fist of that era, a.k.a. Christopher Priest.

The New52 started off great, imo.

There were a TON of fantastic titles when it first started... But then DC did the same cash-grabby shit that Marvel did with the Ultimate Universe: quantity over quality. 😘

Yeah, pretty much. And I was someone that loathed even the idea of the reboot at all. But then we got stuff like Action Comics etc.

N52 sucked ass from the beginning, imho.

I'm not even sure what they're doing anymore; they seem to be combining resets, retcons and trying to pretend everything "counts" once again at the same time.

A recipe for a disaster.

It had its moments. I didn't like the blatant millennial pandering even when it wws good.

Jimmy Olson in lush highrise:

"Yeah my dad gives me all the money I need, I'm richer then god. It's not money I need, it's respect."

Or the famous Clark Kent becomes a blogger.

And just the looks of everyone, like they're a Queer Eye for the Straight Guy fashion model or something.

I can only guess that you read the wrong books, or that they weren't for you. But there were some I would argue (that Galan listed) that were very, very good.

As of right now... it's murky, but it's in a kind of limbo too. We're all still waiting for Snyder to shit or get off the pot.

I'm just gonna say this ---

--- Geoff Johns should be mopping the floors with his mug and drowning himself in a public toilet.

Sounds like they want to have an ace in the hole, in case every other plan goes to hell.

Oh he'll shit alright.

And I'd wager that it will be a massive, steamy shit. 🙁

lol, you mean the guy that single-handedly dragged Green Lantern, Flash and Aquaman back in to some much deserved limelight? Johns has his issues, but he's generally written far more good than bad.

Honestly, it's a ship without a captain atm. Doomsday Clock should have been it, but no, they went and ****ed that up.

Most likely.

Still can't believe they let him do this right at the end of Doomsday Clock.

The problem I've always had with Snyder is that he tries way too hard to write Morrison-level events, without being able to realize that he's just... Not on that level. If he tamed his stories down just a bit, and stopped trying to stuff so much damn content into them, they could probably be pretty good.

Unfortunately he's going to go bananas with this upcoming event like we've never seen before. It scares me. ermm

Tom King is the best.

Can't wait for his Bane to break Superman and eat his corpse.

Yeah. Having big ideas is great, but you need to be capable of making them happen. I haven't seen Snyder follow through successfully once, so I don't expect this to be any different.
