What if in a alternative universe a Somali Superman beats the crap of a mixed race exotic looking Thor, then take his girl

I see a bathtub and toaster in someone’s future

Warner and Disney both getting blacked

That is just sad.

Anyone that thinks this is a good thing, are outright idiots.

Star Wars has already gone that route. Only a matter of time until it bleeds over into mainstream comics.

To be honest, I don't see a problem with anyone playing a character or reinventing a character or giving a new iteration. I was really against a woman playing Doctor Who, but she has been lots better than Smith or Capaldi. That might be the writing of course. Remember Men used to play women in the theatre anyway. Take Superman who would have thought a short Brit would be playing him, or Wolverine a tall Canadian. Ffs, when I was growing up Nick Fury was a White man about the age I am now. I've been reading Superman 45+ years, I've seen many of versions of him, we have had Green Lantern replaced by a Ginger Retard (Guy), A black Engineer and ex Soldier John, An Artist, and then Hal has returned. All this Social Justice Warrior, it's political correctness, it's feminazi shit, I just don't see it. It's people telling different stories and doing something different with a character. Make Bond Black, Make Doctor Who a woman, turn Superman into Supermyn make her transgender and make her sexually dysfunctional with a learning disability; just give me a good story. Let's be honest, a villain with a plan who is bigger than the last villain with a plan and puts our hero through hell before they finally come good in the final act, will generally always be the plot.
He/She/Gender non=specified may not be my Superman/myn, Superman now isn't my Superman, My Superman was Christopher Reeves... He or She or Gender Unspecified will be someones Supermyn. As would a Black/Indian/Chinese Superman/myn.

Tall Australian.

The problem is the retconning long established lore. It puts off the long term fans.

The Midechlorean effect. People to this day ask "WHY' about that stupid, unneeded retcon.

Full reboots are better, that way your older fans get to keep their nostalgia. Like Battlestar Galactica 2003 did it.

Yeah, they can always be retconned back and will be at some point. Ffs Cap becomes Nomad, USAgent is Cap, Bucky is Cap, Falcon is Cap, Peggy is Cap. Captain America is a Skrull, Cap is a Hydra Agent, Cap is President. So, he's already been Black, Handicapped, Female... Gay next maybe?

As a different character, or in a different continuity. Or in the case of Nomad, a passing phase, like Electric Blue Superman.

But what if they retconned Cap from selfless volunteer, to selfish egoist who had to be on the front lines no matter yet?

Or make it so he was a trans man, and the Super Soldier Serum is actually an early hormone replacement therapy with unintended side effects? And the reason they can't replicate the serum, is because there was a cover up as to the true intent of the program, leading to failure after failure as they tried boosting men when they really needed another woman.

Hey, I wonder if I can sell this idea to Marvel. 🙂

none of that truly matters...it's all about whether the story is good or not. Not some old phucks nostalgia. whirly is right

In all seriousness:

If there was no way to pirate comics for free and you had to purchase individual issues... What current books would you spend your money on(if any)..?

If so, Only some trades/omnibuses that written by some talented writers.

People acting like good stories don't hinge on having good characters.

I don't mind black Hawkman at all.
What I do mind is all red-headed devils getting new hair colour.
What kind of message does that send to Pr and the other irish urchins rolling around in the bog?

Do you recommend any good comic podcasts?

That's the thing, that podcast wss the only one I had that was worthwhile.

There are still quite a few solid episodes though.
It's called battle of the atom.

And good characters hinge on good actors,to me.

I liked Michael Clarke Duncan as the Kingpin. I did not like Halle Berry as Catwoman.

The problem with comic stories is they are all the same. How many generations have seen a different but same origin for superman. How many times has "Superman" been sent to conquer Earth? Brightburn, Supreme Power, even Goku. The film makers are brave when they try and give the Udience a different but same character.
