...Actually shows the Knights of Ren.

Wow.

That's probably their whole screentime.

seriously, you all survived attack of the clones. why you acting like star wars never sucked until just now?

Regardless of its quality, at least AotC didn't ruin the OT. The sequels did. Now if I watch the OT, I know that it's all pointless as everything the "heroes" did is ultimately undone.

I've never understood the "this thing is ruined because this other thing that came after it is bad." That's a small child's mentality.

The last 4 Terminator movies have all been pretty bad, but that's not gonna stop me enjoying the the first two. I don't need to watch the ones that came after them years later as a cash grab.

The OT is a self-contained story that doesn't need any more movies or books or comics to be good. Everything EU or sequel or prequel is just some accessory made after-the-fact and are totally optional. I treat the PT and ST as separate stories in their own right, almost because they're practically separate fictional universes written in very different times with different productions. They aren't the foundations; the OT is. They can be removed and discarded easily.

Can they? Sure, I can pretend they never happened. But the truth is, when I watch the OT, the sequels will always be nagging in the back of my mind whether I want them to or not.

That's unfortunate.

If the OT is taken away from all the other movies and media, they fall apart structurally. They all leech off the originals--it's just a function of time when building a franchise. If the PT, ST, comics, EU, games, etc. is taken away from the OT, it stays the same.

Where the rest of Star Wars is a hot mess of narratives that sometimes end, sometimes are left dangling, and are all derivative of the OT... the OT itself is a self-contained and complete narrative that begins and ends with itself--no further reference frame required. It can stand alone completely independent of the rest of the ugly franchise. And so I can watch it as such.

I've talked to people about this before and their usual reasoning tends to fall into the "but George Lucas intended!" camp. I hate that camp. F*ck his intentions, all I care about is the final product, not the hack who needed his first film saved in editing and the other films to be written and directed by other people.

That was more to do with taccy acting and bad dialogue. This is more to do with slowly destroying the lore. Thats my take on it, but then im not the best judge as im a Prequel fan, and this trilogy is the first bad one for me.

And I dont mind it being aimed primarily at 12 year olds, like Freddie Prince Jnr rants about. Nor do I mind the new lead being female (which was actually a refreshing change). Its expanding the universe without crapping on the lore thats important (for me).

In any case im always hoping the next one is good, and Im glad they are doing good things on tv and with the video games.

Attack of the clones was much better c'mon. First of all, at least it wasn't a copy-paste of the OT, secondly it depiected the start of clone wars so it was more interesting to watch. Thirdly we got to see a lot of Jedi in action for the first time in a movie, we saw Yoda fighting for the first time (in the OT he was old and weak) and all. TPM was much worse tbh

^ AOTC was my least favourite from Episodes 1-6, but ive appreciated more and more post the sequels. Given my biggest complaint about the sequels is the lack of imagination, with that in mind you go back now and watch AOTC, and jeez complain all you want about the dialogue, but that film is filled with creativity from start to end.

it was so dense. every single frame had so many things going on

It's not that original (it's still derivative of the earlier OT), and the jingling keys that are lightsabers and the retard Jedi who swing them are for literal babies in the audience who have no attention span or sense of discernment.

Hey I didn't know if any of you thought of this already, but bringing Palpatine in this movie is just like that time Norman Osborn got resurrected during the Clone Saga. It's like crashing and burning rhymes

Spoilers for the film's climax: https://makingstarwars.net/2019/11/is-anakin-skywalker-in-star-wars-the-rise-of-skywalker-any-other-jedi/

facepalm

It's almost as if this has become a parody.

So she just...

Spoiler:
deflects Palpatine's lightning back at him, and that's that
..? I feel sick. 😘

The best thing about the scene is that we'll evidently hear

Spoiler:
the voices of Ezra and Ahsoka speak to Rey
, but even that part sounds ****ing stupid. 😬

Yikes.

Perfect movie

I'm not gonna read them but from your reaction I see they are cringe. Are you sure they are 100% true?

Not gonna read them, either.

People have been crying here since the very first spoiler though, so I expect it's as bad as TLJ.
