I really wanna see Bortus divorce Klyden. He's been nothing but toxic since season 1 and him finally speaking up about it really hammered it home. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Klyden told the Moclans where the nebula was. In sure the admiralty didn't do it. And blabbermouth Topa didn't know enough to send detailed transmissions.

One thing that irks me about the Moclans is the piss poor justification (at least in my mind) for maintaining backwards, outdated views. "But it helped us survive in the past". Yeah, you people clearly aren't in danger of going extinct any time soon. And if you stop being such ass-hats, the entire Union of allies you have would gladly support you should you ever hit trying times.
But instead, they choose to act like a bunch of narrow-minded bigots.

But Bortus was born Male and is more sympathetic than almost every Moclan who isn't themselves going against the grain of the culture like the parents and the straight guy.

Yeah, I genuinely dislike them at this point. Because not only are they oppressing and mutilating a chunk of their population purely for the sake of outdated traditions, they're lying about the scale to which they do it as well. They strip away what should be basic rights, for reasons that aren't relevant, and have the audacity to act offended when someone calls them out on their backwards way of thinking.

Yeah, that's the big issue for the Union at the moment. Because of the situation with the Kaylons, the Union needs those Moclan weapon and upgrades (like the Orville got) more than ever. So, they have to maintain that relationship, even if it is distasteful to say the least. The Moclans seem to excel in that area. IIRC, they were also the ones who did the Orville's shield upgrades.

It's MacFarlane touching on real-world politics and policies. How many times has America supported an obvious piece of shit because it was suitable at the time. eg Saddam and Osama were both once allies.
Bortus needs to divorce his husband though, that guy's an unbearable asspipe.
