Orville season 2

Oh, the little shuttle sequence with Malloy and Grayson was awful. That's the worst the special effects have ever looked on the show, and there has been at least a handful of very cheap-looking sequences.

Spoiler:
The big battle sequence at the end looked decent, though
, but I found it sort of boring with so much shit going on on the screen. It looked like Star Wars. Making something a bit more intimate and personal there might have been nice.

The ep. was still really enjoyable though, a nice sense of tension throughout.
I’ll let you guys start getting into the details, though, as i’m always iffy on what constitutes a spoiler for a show we all obviously watch. 😛

This nitpicky point probably isn't a spoiler:

Would a perfect computer with data on an oranism's strength and weaknessea make the mistake of nearly killing something they needed alive?

What, no stun settings? Or, they couldn't whip up a taser, or something?

One quick comment, then I'll go into details later:

Spoiler:
Something like 3 ships destroyed at the cost of 60. Krill swoop in, Kaylon drop like flies. Their STARFIGHTERS bring some diown.

The alliance is lucky the Krill never declared all out war on them, it would be a short campaign.

As others have said, it was kind of predictable but still enjoyable.

Was actually

Spoiler:
32 to 6 IIRC. Also, just because the Kaylon ships weren't being outright destroyed doesn't mean they weren't taking damage. The Krill basically swooped in at the last second, after the Union had done the actual legwork and softened the Kaylon fleet up. Remember, during the Krill's first encounter with a single Kaylon ship, it destroyed two of theirs before going down to the third.

It did kind of highlight my point after the last episode though. Two fleets were enough to drive them off. Based on how they were talking this episode about the Moclan fleet, it seems like the different races of the Union have their own fleets that operate with autonomy. And I am assuming others, like the Xelayans (who have been mentioned as having a military) have their own fleet as well. And other Union members possibly also.

Also, based on

Spoiler:
how it was mentioned that the Union fleet was spread out and that it would take weeks to recall everyone, what we saw was probably only a relatively small segment of the entire thing. So, I am really not seeing how the Kaylons would have been able to sustain a prolonged conflict against literally all the biological races in the galaxy.

Assuming that was their entire fleet, yeah.

The thing is

Spoiler:
we know they regularly build Kaylons for specific purposes. And, they built weapons in the time it took for the delegation to figure out they were being deceived. That could have been a test run, or they could be retreating to build a much bigger fleet over weeks/months.)

Problem with that is their whole reason for

Spoiler:
expansion was that they were starting to exceed their planet's capacity. Do they even have the resources to rebuild their fleet? No one is going to trade with them now.

In comparison, we already know the Union is making repairs, trying to come up with plans, is working towards using this opportunity to forge a stronger relationship with the Krill, have Isaac to help with info and prep, as well as what Yaphit learned. Not to mention we know they have way more access to resources than a single planet.

What's more, the Union has another huge advantage. Now knowing their history, they have a much better understanding of the Kaylons and their motivations, as slavery is a topic our species is all too familiar with. Ultimately, the Kaylons have proven that, while they have a lot of data on biological lifeforms, they really don't understand them. Hell, they didn't even understand enough of another Kaylon who had experience with them to not see an obvious betrayal coming.

You missed the one important factor in why the Krill ship's seemed stronger in fire power.

Spoiler:
It was the will of AVIS that made it so

We pray to Hertz in my house.

Thor, in mine. I’m Asatru.

The Krill could obviously take out Earth, but not so sure if all the alliance races joined in. Though it's heavily implied that even with all races working together the Krill are still a serious threat and one of the main reason they're trying to bring in the Kaylon's as allies.

IIRC, someone (Kelly?) noted that they should request support from the Moclan's to fend off the Kaylons, but it was futile as they'd not arrive in time.

The Orville is getting its own comic from Dark Horse

I’m in.
The writer’s got FUTURAMA and Star Trek cred, to sweeten the deal.

That's cool news. Yeah, Futurama and Star Trek seem like the perfect resume.

So I missed the lastest episode. Episode 10, I think? I'll have to catch up. How was it? Action or soap opera/drama?

Another good episode. I'm surprised at how good the action is in the show. Even Star Trek rarely had space battles or h2h fights of that calibre.

Hell, even when the Kaylon were taking over the ship, the security teams actually seemed far more competent than most in Star Trek have in the past.

So last night was another action episode with the Kaylon?

*Borg beams aboard.*

Picard: "Mister Worf, show this interloper what a fully trained master of Starfleet security tactics can do!"

*Charges Borg* "Raaaagh!" *Knocked aside*

"...... I really must speak with high command about our security program."

Watched the new episode and it was awesome, about Malloy's old friend and the pact with the Krill. Really, really good episode. 👆 👆

I laughed really hard when she asked the Krill coming aboard the ship for a urine sample. 😂 😂

That was definitely one of the laugh highlights of the season.
