Yeah drogue did something that prevented his cells from working. Wasn’t made clear and no reason at all to assume Poseidon could use a similar attack. Diana has battled her gods and supermans battle with apollo was hilarious. Magic is always a question for him in these types of match. Still unsure he could win this by himself tbh.
could be. i'm more inclined to think he was thinking of drogue but.... where is that from? also not sure exactly what poseidon did to them both there or the context around it. a drowning wouldn't work, at least not for a while given how long a prepared superman can hold his breath. not to say poseidon couldn't force water into his lungs at some point, just that straight drowning would take a long while. supes could also boil or thunderclap large amounts away, or whirlwind. he has loads of ways to avoid drowning off the bat. i was unsure of poseidon's offense and wondered if he could withstand a serious superman's onslaught.

That's Year One Superman though who had basically no idea about gods and he has grown far more powerful now.
