Make movies out of:
- Ringworld, by Larry Niven (CGI Puppeteers are long overdue)
- Flux, by Stephen Baxter (humans living inside a neutron star)
- Hyperion, by Dan Simmons (just a fantastic read on so many levels)Actually, that does sound interesting. I already see it starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt.
Yeah the neutron birds, xeelee etc would be fun.
Originally posted by samhainAgreed. Fassbender and Cumberbatch would be better than Damon (I was influenced by The Great Wall), but I'm stickin' with Emily.
No. Fassbender and Cumberbatch, with Zoe Saldana providing some 15th century cleavage, ankle and shoulder.
Originally posted by Putinbot1I'd like to see a CGI Shrike; and the Xeelee would be a helluva reveal, since Baxter refused to really describe them in his stories (an intriguing literary turn, but damn, I want a pic).

Simmonds stuff does lend itself to spectacle, the machine god, shrike, phase suits etc. Very cool.
I'd like to see a book called the ice cream war set in Africa in WW1 turned into a film, I think it would work very well, as would Bellow's Henderson the Rain King, especially if it was set as a period peice.
A Michael bay production, the teaser trailer has some monologue from a general about the military incorporating Cybertronian technology to create an elite anti Transformers crack squad. The camera pans to, what looks like, a Transformer, who says "This is Leader 1", as he transforms into an F-15 Eagle. Cue an appropriately Bayformerish "The Go-Bots".

That's sounding more like a trilogy IMO.
