Ah yes, the great Cyclops conundrum: Narration tends to make him sound far more badass/powerful than his feats actually show us. It's why I hate putting stock in stuff like that.

Even without that, Cyke has some crazy good feats. Easily surpassing those of Manta burning NON-bulletproof Arthur's skin.

I guess it comes down to how highly you rate Manta and Aquaman. Sure, there's the high-end Cyclops stuff, but that's hardly the standard, or what he's likely to whip out once the bell rings, and Manta isn't the type to not go for blood from the get-go.

I love how you hate the WWH feat for being "too low", but at the same time consider it "too high".

What do you mean? My biggest issue with that feat is that he says he's going full power while he still has his visor on, which to me is the equivalent of Wolverine stabbing Thanos with sheathed claws. It might seem silly, but to me it shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how the character's power works, and you and I have talked about how writers get even basic shit about X-Men powers wrong in the past.

I don't harbour any belief that Cyclops should be able to seriously hurt a being of that level of strength/durability. Someone like The Thing, though? Cyclops should be violently ripping his his ****ing face off, but again, has so few feats to show it. I don't believe for one second that a Sentinel is on the same level as Ben Grimm or Luke Cage.

Now, if we're talking about high-end stuff, the kind of stuff that might sway me in this case is the Sinister/Apocalypse blasts. Those are two I put a lot of weight behind, assuming I'm remembering them right.

i for one never said cyke COULDN'T win--he'd def take some. it's damn close to a split imo. in character though, i think manta would take a slight majority. this would be a fun fight to see though.

Wait. Do you think that I think that if Cyclops had taken off his visor against Hulk, that he would have done more damage to him in the actual comic? I don't think that.
