The point is moreso that between two guys there's at least a subconscious acknowledgement of the possibility of things getting physical. So like say one of the guys completely flips out and starts getting within another guy's personal space, couple inches away from the face, screaming hysterically.
Well a guy is less likely to do that with another guy, because things could very conceivably get physical.
With a girl there might not be as much inhibition because even if a girl starts doing that to a guy, there's not as much of a chance of the guy getting violent with a girl.
