-Lee Daniels told him to stage the attack to bring publicity to the show

or

-Kamala Harris told Lee Daniels (whose son reportedly suffered a homophobic attack) to tell Smaggot to stage the attack to bring support to the anti-lynching bill (which would give her cred in the 2020 election)
