Oh, you poor pathetic Bernie supporters just don't get it do you? The American populace as a whole does not and never will embrace socialism (and no, there is no such thing as a "good kind" of socialism).

It may come as a shock to you commie-loving dumbasses, but the people on twitter and this forum are not representative of the american electorate. You can make all the jokes and spin it however you want to but come November you sad losers won't be the ones laughing. 👆

Socialism sucks. Period. And it is just communism in disguise.

Yeah... Except that large parts of a mostly functional, non-communist western europe kind of disproves your point just by existing.

and hey, while I would be surprised if Sanders got elected, the Democrats aren't exactly spoiled for choice to put forward as a candidate right now.

I hope Biden loses by a landslide come November
If he gets the nomination

I hope Sanders loses by a margin

I hope whoever is the nominee is the one who has the most pledged delegates. Otherwise there will be so much bad blood from supporters of the other nominee that it will likely guarantee a Trump win.

A candidate needs a majority—not a plurality—of pledged delegates in order to secure the nomination.

If no candidate reaches that threshold, then delegates who are pledged to candidates who are no longer competing are provided the opportunity to realign with one of the remaining candidates to reflect the will of their electors.

That is actually the most fair and representative system.

To date, Sanders only has the support of 25–30% of Democratic primary voters.

This means that 70–75% of Democratic primary voters want someone other than him.

If he were to be awarded the nomination with only a plurality of delegates, he would literally be elected by a minority of the Democratic primary electorate.

This system prevents a scenario in which three-quarters of voters want a moderate candidate, and a liberal candidate is selected with a quarter of the vote.

If the RNC had such a system, Trump would never have become the nominee.

the DNC would never do that... again

They did not do it last time. Sanders petitioned superdelegates to award him the nomination, even though Clinton received 4-million more votes. In fact, the only delegates who switched in 2016 did so for Sanders, and he still lost.

Yup, it's very likely. But like I said, largely the DNC and Neo liberals don't care if Trump wins again. They can spin it to blame the disunity on Bernie.

They do care if Trump wins again. But the care about keeping the House and flipping the Senate more.

If Biden loses to Trump, but Democrats take Congress, they can not only provide oversight over the administration, but they can start passing progressive bills.

But if Sanders loses to Trump, and Democrats lose Congress, we are lost for a generation.

I disagree. The most fair and representative system would be rank choice voting and you wouldn't even be dealing with this.

It's possible that Klobber voters would pick Sanders as their 2nd or 3rd choice. Same with Pete. And in reality, Sanders would be the landslide choice of dems. No more "hold your nose and vote" voting like you described. Now you get to choose your 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and on and on and on. It doesn't matter how many drop out. You still get your votes and no one's vote goes to waste.

Do away with delegates altogether. 🙂

But why would you not go with this choice? Simple: corruption. They want the option to go with whoever.

Surely dems will just go with the popular vote, just like they did in Iowa. Practicing what they preach is what they do.

Based on the problems being outlined, no one will get a popular vote, just a plurality. Likely Sanders will get the plurality.

We’re going to have a contested convention. Sanders will have the most pledged delegates as well as there overall popular vote but not the majority needed to secure the nomination. Super delegates will ignore the will of the people and give the nomination to Biden. It will be a repeat on 2016 and Biden will lose to Trump despite getting more votes but the democratic establishment will now have no room to whine about it because they essentially will have done the same thing in the primary.
you sound suprised...
