Your red herring has been noted again. You're also still wrong about running speed being a set factor in someone's punching speed.
Actually in terms of comic book heroes, running speed usually is a good indication of super speed, due to your legs and arms having to also move independently at those speeds, plus all the manoeuvring and reactions required to not trip over or hit a building especially in a battle scenario.
But just propelling yourself into the sky with energy blasts? Nah. Not at all.

Who said the fight would take place on land or that she requires to physically run?
She can lure Superman into the sky and stomp him there.

Am not well familiarized with the DC spectrum, specially comics. If you are talking about the movie, i don't recall Raynold's one well.
I understand now. The point is, there are a myriad of comic characters who can traverse space at great speeds. That in itself is never a qualifier for the type of combat speed you're talking about.
You're bringing physics into stuff that routinely ignores it.
If you've ever seen the tv show "Heroes", you have people who can fly at high speeds, but it doesn't give them some h2h combat speed. That is a lesser example.
CM stomps Supes.
Carol has the advantage of being cunning & doesn't mind fighting dirty whilst Supes' fighting skills is too clean-cut & relies too much on strength & speed rather than technique.
Also whatever the scenario for the battle, The Big Blue BoyScout will have his moral compass all screwed up hurting a woman & that will be his disadvantage & downfall.
Yeah he fought Faora (sp?) but she was clearly a ruthless foe & her gender was never a factor compared to her actions.

Ive not even said Superman wins. Im talking about the difference between travel/bullrush speed and combat speed/reactions/reflexes.

Again, speed is speed, regardless of the action. You want to limit the definition of speed, then bring hard evidence to do so. Otherwise, the definition nullifies your argument.
Rebuttal: Val Armorr.
Reflex's and combat speed that could keep up with Flash. Never, ever displayed comparable running speeds.

This can't be serious....

Have you guys ever been into a fight? I personally have been into several as part of my Karate training. If you have been into a fight before you'd know that a. You move your fists to punch b. you move your legs to kick and c. you move your entire body to dodge, approach the enemy or retreat.
Furthermore, you'll realize than in most of the combat, the opponents are outside arm/leg spam. They are away from the reach of punches/kicks while analyzing the opponent's moves and planning the offensive. This means that they are moving their bodies whilst in combat.
Here is where physics kick in (If you think physics have nothing to do with this, then go back to college):
Speed is speed. A person's body will move as fast as it can move.
If a person's top speed while running is 4m/s, you can't expect him to move faster in a fight! The person will move his body in a fight at a rate of 4m/s or less! That's common sense.
So you saying that a person's moving speed has nothing to do with combat speed (which in fact, requires moving your body) is wrong.
Example:
Mr. Mayweather can punch at a speed of 2m/s, his top speed is of 1m/s. Usain Bolt can travel at a speed of 2m/s and hit at a speed of 1.5m/s. Both have an arm of length 0.5m and have to hit a target that is 4m away.
Usain Bolt will hit the target before, regardless of Mayweather punching faster. So it's EVIDENT that combat speed is in fact influenced by how fast you move
SURE! Once the opponent is within your punching/kicking reach, then moving your body becomes useless. Otherwise, i've already proven my point.

Okay...so which Superman actor/version/persona do you envisage engaging in a fight with Carol Danvers?
Christopher Reeves, the ultimate Big Blue BoyScout?
I get the feeling he'd probably choose to self sacrifice himself than hit a woman regardless of whether she has super powers or not.
He'd most likely spend his time avoiding conflict with her at all times...all defence & no attack.
Brandon Routh?
The only version of Superman that actually never fought a super villain or had anything remotely a threat to him, besides kryptonite.
No example of fighting skills at all...CM stomps him.
Henry Cavill?
Probably the only version that's a possible threat & yet also the most susceptible to Lois Lane convincing him not to fight CM in the first place.

So Superman won't beat up Captain Marvel because he's a good guy? Captain Marvel is a good girl. You think she's going to wail on someone who isn't trying to fight her?
It's non-logic that doesn't provide an answer to the thread, but avoids providing an answer entirely.
Oh, and by the way, Reeve Superman could stand and take Captain Marvel's best shots with a smile. She'd die of exhaustion before she hurt him. 🙂

I've joined in a debate about fictitious superheroes fighting each other & you want to point out a "stupid post" in a ridiculous topic...okaaay.
Two good heroes on the same side...so please elaborate the sole reason they need to fight in the first place?
I'm not debating who is stronger, I'm saying every version of Superman is driven by a moral compass not to hit a woman, regardless of having superpowers.
LOL yeah Reeves is the poster face of a woman beater!
