Chimps are weaker than we thought...
Chimp is a term I often see around the forum. But how strong is a chimp actually?

Interesting huh.
Large Silverback Gorillas though have a deadlift around twice that of the heaviest lifted by a man.
Our greater slow twitch muscle per Kg of muscle muscle does give us better endurance and our fine motor skills are obviously greater.
I suspect why people so badly hurt by chimps when they attack is the chimp blitzes them with greater speed due to its superior strength to weight ratio.
Thoughts?

I've said the same before on KMC. While a chimp might be 2 times stronger than the average adult male, trained adult human males can be 3-8 times stronger than average adult males.
I do wonder how strong a gorilla could get if it trained like a strength athlete.

Silverbacks have incredibly short levers compared to lowland Gorillas which obviously means a the moment of force is close to the fulcrum making most lifts very easy. But reducing the "golf club " effect. When shaven they look incredibly cut but not as massive as you imagine so the room for extra mass is there before tange of motion is lost.
To be honest any guess of how training would affect them is only guesswork. Clearly they would respond but I doubt the incremental change would be as great as with a man as they start with a greater bulk in the first place.
