Well there may be some returning revenue from HBO Max. It should at least do better than Tenet considering both movie cost roughly the same amount.
Many more theatres were open for Tenets release. And Tenet wasnt put on streaming simultaneously.

They might put it in the theaters again after theaters open, but that will only draw very few people since everybody by then will know it's a shit movie
Theyre counting on making money from new subscriptions for HBO Max.
This will be a massive loss to them on the face of it, but subscriptions (who stay) bring in money forever.
But think about it, this movie was delayed by a whole year (pre-Covid) and then they put it straight to HBO Max at a time when Covid cases are really high. I think they knew this sucked from Day 1 so were never expecting this to be a billion dollar movie or anything.
