2. It's a mutual lose-lose situation. Trump has no leverage by taking a hard-liner approach. China has de-industrialized the USA and we'd be crippled by cutting them off. India is no-where close to ready to serve as a replacement. Accept it.
If Trump wants to sit down and negotiate a deal like a big boy that's fine, but pouting like a child and walking away from the table all together (like he did with N. Korea and look how that's turning out) is a moronic move.
I had a discussion with the son of a farmer some time ago. He moved out here a while back but his dad still holds their midwest farm down on his own Trump's tariffs are apparently killing folks like his dad. To simplify, China is actually a huge purchaser of many crops our farming brothers and sisters produce. If you put tariffs on China, well, they retaliate with their own tariffs against you. It forces these hardworking folks to lose business despite Trump claiming to be their champion.
The USDA is still scrambling, putting together money to support the American farmers as best they can, but the outlook isn't super bright. You gotta think there's a better route, than using taxpayer money as some kinda band aid while the President takes money almost directly out of farmers' hands.
