He was trying to kill her. There's no taking away from this.
Superman was as close to the sun as he can get. Kryptonite does not affect kryptonians when they are close to the sun. Every die hard Superman fans know this. The kryptonite did nothing.

Lol... things far slower than bullets that can outright kill Superman has been able to easily tag him. Mongul could kill him and he is slower than a bullet, unless, you have proof. Also, the scene where he was shot in the head by a kryptonite bullet. Or this scene where he could've saved lives and admitted he wasnt fast enough...
