Well that's what will happen in Georgia where the bill passed apparently. Which is ridiculous.Maybe not, but okay. So what about the rights of the woman to govern her own body? It seems many conservatives are all about personal rights until it comes down to a woman's right over her own uterus.
In the case of consensual sex nobody forces a woman to get pregnant. Me personally, I exercise my right to govern my finances by... not getting a woman pregnant and having to pay child support as a result.
Consensual sex is a lot more clearcut to me, the pregnant woman and the man who got her pregnant bare responsibility for the situation and I think the government's role in this instance is the protection of the life to innocent party. I'll happily support a woman's right to govern her own sexual decisions, only rapists force women to get pregnant. I'm chill with abstinence, contraception, birth control, adoption. Just not the termination of an innocent human life. And just to be clear this isn't out of some weird pathological need to punish people for having sex, as someone like AdamPOE might put it. Even though I morally disagree with casual sex, I would love it if we got to the point where birth control was advanced and widespread enough that unplanned pregnancies just aren't a thing.
In the case of rape though the woman isn't really responsible for the situation so that would be denying her control over her body... but then again abortion is killing an innocent and questions of a parent's responsibility to their child come up... and I'm just too uncomfortable with either position on a level of principle for it to really come to a head. I'm not really a fan of force the woman to be pregnant and carry it to term, and I'm not really a fan of it's okay to kill it. I suppose that one's easier for me to work out on a moral level than a legal level.
At the end of the day, even assuming I was clearcut in favor of rape abortion alongside being clearcut against birth control abortions, just the sheer number comparison between the two keep it well away from suddenly make me side with the democrats on the overall issue.
Something I will say though is that I'm not really a fan of how toxic the whole discussion is. Like when either side of it pretends the other side just has a hardon for killing babies, or that the other side has some weird obsession with controlling women for the sake of controlling women. I generally think people have better intentions than the worst intentions read into them.

This just happened yesterday. Just now found out about it. 74-3 in favor of bill.
Proud that my state is taking a strong stand for the unborn. Makes me proud. This just made my day. 🙂

I'd also like to once again note my respect for you Patientleach. Despite our wide disagreement on politics, and wider disagreements on religion, you've always been a very civil and respectful person to have a discussion with who actually engages with the discussion and not in weird ad hominems, strawmen, and personal attacks.

One is a civil suit for allegedly lying about a 16 year old child and one in a criminal court for contempt of court and has round the clock protection after death threats lol. People have already been arrested for going after him, Haha, you're so retarded.
Btw, still waiting for u to prove to us all how big & bad you really are by challenging Tommy Robinson to a fight. Still... waiting... what's that sound a chicken makes? 😂

No, conservatives aren't the hypocritical ones. All conservatives think everyone has a basic right to life no matter who they are unless they committ a heinous crime like, for example, taking the life of another person or attempting to take the life of one. When you do that you forfeit your right to life.Leftists are the hypocritical ones, as always. They're fine with killing defenseless unborn children who have never hurt another soul but they think convicted murdering bastards should be shown mercy. That's sick.
"Collateral damage."
"Capital punishment."

Is it hypocritical for me to say we shouldn't be allowed to murder poor people or homeless people if I'm not a fan of a government imposed safety net?Because I'm pretty sure the pro-life position holds that you aren't allowed to kill the baby after its born either.
That's not Carlin's point and not what he's mocking. Generally speaking, Conservatives are the ones against safety nets and social programs, so while they'll protect a fetus that would be born into poverty, they'll see that same poverty stricken (after birth) baby/child as a tax burden.
