Finally caught up with this. I kept hearing how good season 3 was and... meh? It's better than the previous seasons, sure, but it still has a lot of the same issues as most "nutrek". Fan-service only does so much.
Kind of like it's made by people who hate classic Trek and try throwing nostalgia without really understanding what fans liked.

I'll be honest, I think Matalas actually does like Star Trek, but there's that element of being almost too much of a fan and not being able to recognise the things that make Star Trek what it is. The writers don't know how to write Star Trek dialogue, and the whole aesthetic is just... strange. Though if the lighting was improved that would be a huge start.
