I've never heard of Scott Adkins.

I heard a really good interview with Clancy Brown this afternoon on NPR. He's in this. I've actually never seen Highlander. I of course know him the best from Shawshank Redemption and Starship Troopers. He does a lot of voice acting too. I never would have guessed that he's done a voice for SpongeBob Square Pants all these years.

highlander is amazing.

Highlander is great. The films that came after were turds stacked on turds.

Speaking of, Henry Cavill is no longer in the Highlander remake/reboot by Guy Ritchie, they now have Chris Hemsworth in the lead.

Well I guess someone won't be in John Wick 5

Damn, only 60 too.

Ah, damn.. that's sad. 🙁

i hope the action scenes are top notch and badassery

Re: John Wick: Chapter 4 (2021)

^ Seeing it the day before on a Thursday preview. Unusual for me, but it worked for our schedule this time.

Per the thread title: This definitely did not come out in 2021. I guess it was Covid delayed big time.

I'm pretty excited for this. I haven't really seen any trailer, so that should make for a fun time.

It was initially slated to be released the same day as The Matrix Resurrections

Seeing it probably this weekend

Rewatched 3 and 2 the past few nights. (Going backwards because I wasn't sure if I'd have time to finish them all before I see 4 on Thursday)...

Anyway, I must say I'm enjoying watching them again. I'm appreciating the world building more upon repeat viewings.

3 is a damn near perfect film. If it weren't for that fight in the big glass room going on too goddamn long it would be damn cinematic perfection.

I enjoyed 2 more than I did previously.

Hoping to rewatch 1 again before Thursday.

^^^Its funny but 1 seems almost…quiet, compared to 3.
It was a really great movie though. Simple straightforward premise w. just enough hints dropped about his prior life that I was like wow, I’d like to know more about this world…

Yeah, I know, right?

Just rewatched 1 again last night. It's so good. It definitely has a lower budget feel now, though, compared to the others.

I wish Wick had returned the favor and saved Marcus (Willem Dafoe) so he could have been in the sequels! 🙁

The first film is the best of the series, imo. Plot was solid and not overly bloated to where it went into stupidland.

Punk kills Wick's dog, the dog his beloved deceased wife gave him, and then steals his car to add insult to injury. Wick demands payment in blood. /end A straightforward revenge story.

I enjoyed 2 and 3, but they've gotten more absurd as the story goes on.

I see the sequels in a similar way to the Pitch Black sequels. They take a simple plot and add an absolutely ridiculous amount of "out there" lore

Good comparison.

Pitch Black also happens to be the superior film of that franchise, and by a lot.

Yeah, the sequels are kind of like a mafia fantasy, but with really great choreographed fight sequences which helps ground the world as more believable.

Man, some of these RT quotes are impressive AF...

"Even at practically Kubrickian length, though, the lockstep slaughter barely gives you pause for breath. It’s a barrage, and a blast."

Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK)

"John Wick: Chapter 4 is a fantastic tribute to action cinema, raising the bar to new levels that won’t be topped for a long time."

Rating: 5/5 Kelechi Ehenulo, Movie Marker

"Not only does Chapter 4 endeavor to be a potentially final John Wick movie, it plays as an attempt at the last action movie ever made."

B+ Conor O'Donnell
The Film Stage

Just back from this and God damn. Some of the action sequences as just unreal. The Arc de Triumph and the camera above the ceiling scenes in particular. But there's about 10 others that are outstanding also.

Tremendous stuff.
