iirc, John Woo was the first to really do the whole "slo mo gun battle" thing, and the Matrix itself was influenced by his techniques. The actual "bunch of cameras used to make a slo mo thing we now call bullet time" was first done by the Matrix.

The dancing dodge and sheet of bullet trails effects probably was done first yeah.

Even if he did, it's Matrix that has popularized it.

The effect seems very animeish to me, wouldn't be surprised if they did an equivilent and inspired it in the movie.

They should really be calling this 'The Matrix: Cash-grab'

That sounds accurate.

Of course John Woo was an "influence." And of course one thing leads to another in the evolution of film and technology. But it's not the same thing as inventing bullet time.

cdtm is wrong as usual. 🙄

does anyone really think that this will be successful?

Except The Matrix didn't invent bullet time.

But enough distracting from the main point Patient Leech: Matrix movies were never good.

Mission Impossible, John Wick, now THOSE are fun romps. Matrix is just a sci fi version of Underworld. Badly acted, boring monologues, tedious plot, it feels like it was made by nerds for nerds.

They are all far too long on top of it.

I have no interest in your childishness, cdtm.

But you do realize Underworld came out after The Matrix, right? So Underworld is actually a fantasy version of The Matrix.

You're wrong as always.

I realize that.

And stand by what I said. The Matrix is like Underworld. It does not matter if Matrix came first, it is bad for the same reasons.

Define "successful".

Of course it'll attract crowds to theaters and make a shitload of money.

But it's not likely to replicate Matrix 1, of course.

Modern Keanu is a household name of his own, by the way.

Since John Wick yeah.

Wick would kick Neo's ass.

Sure. Outside the matrix.

Sure. Outside the matrix.

Wick's smart, he'd trick Neo into going to one of those corners where he has no power, co-opt them somehow, and kick his ass.

Beating the odds is what John Wick does.

Isnt WB doing that stupid HBO Max release with that though? And its out just 1 week after Spider-Man.

I don't know how HBO Max affects the sales, but they seem to dig it. So it must be working right for the business or it would be gone already.

And now that we have those delta, delta plus, lambda and omicron variants, you never know when another lockdown might be happening.

The US lockdowns mean go out and counter protest against a thousand people protesting.

Just because I rioted on Jan 6 doesn't make it okay for you spoiled pampered 7 billion orgasm baby boomers

I always hear the same exact thing, "it's been a month"

Well I've been able to do it for 18 years, doesn't mean I was given a single half decent opportunity, much less the prerequisite house, car, supply chain.

This is why no one will ever get their own UFO, and America is powerless.

They already planned all their major films on 2021 to be done that way. Its certainly not helping theatrical sales.

Its just to help HBO Max gain subscribers (theyre way behind Disney plus).

Btw Disney plus tried it with Black Widwo but then scrapped that idea for Shang Chi and Eternals. And they were getting Rentals !

I'll be seeing this one in the theater regardless, HBO Max isn't even available in my region.
