Predictions for the post-Trump future

Win or lose, the Republican party is on it's way out. It's all about the numbers, the Democrats have a perpetually growing base, while the base for Republicans are a shrinking demographic.

What I think will inevitably happen, is as Boomer's die off, the Republican party will shrink into irrelevancy. Meanwhile, the Democratic party will collapse under it's own weight, and splinter into a far left and centrist party. Many former Republicans will be rubbing shoulders with former moderate Democrats, and race will cease to become an effective attack strategy when a large proportion of minorities argue against the Cortiz's and other crazies.

On the positive side, this will mean great strides for race relations. The diehard alt-righties will still be a target, but they will simply cease to matter in the great narrative.

When Trump loses in 2020, Trumpers are going to work VERY hard to pretend they were never really Trumpers, like the true cowards they are.

eg Paul Ryan. "I felt trapped!", "it was a nightmare!", "we had no choice!" etc.

I think if Trump wins pathetic leftists(see above) will meltdown even more. It will be hilarious.

I'm not sure if he'll win, but I guarantee this: the response from the right to a Trump loss would be infinitely less pathetic than the response from the left to a Trump victory.

Well, I can't argue with that but I will say that I've already made up my mind that if, God forbid, he does somehow miraculously lose I will be blaming his loss on the dems colluding with a foreign power (Mexico) because of their open borders policies and talk and how they did absolutely nothing to help stop the flow of illegal immigration and, in fact, even encouraged it.

I will never ever stop using that as an excuse for him losing just like the dems used (and are still using it lol) all of this "russian collusion" bs to help soothe their massive-level butthurt from 2016 election.

Also, Gen Z is less likely to identify as Democrats as their older generations. A disturbing trend for the Democratic Party as well as the Republicans: third party is very likely.

I think where you got the idea that the young are becoming more progressive and more democratic is from the Democratic Party PR machine. It's lies and propoganda they keep spewing.

2. As the population ages, they become more conservative.

Both of those points added together is why I say that Democratic Party is dying out. It is in its Death Throes. Gen Z is less entitled than the Millennials, more self-sufficient, and the most entrepreneurial of any generation in history. This is going to greatly change the political landscape in the coming decades as we have a bunch of social liberals and fiscal conservatives voting in droves at the polls and taking office (that is what I am).

Also, our Gen Z folks are better critical thinkers than the older generations being able to tease out fake news and propaganda better than their older peers. While boomers tune into CNN and and Fox News to massage their confirmation bias, Gen Z peeps are scoffing at clear propaganda on social media.

The Democratic Party needs to stop it with the identity politics, move right of hardcore socialism, and stick closer to technocratic policies. If they do not make these strategic moves, they will be replaced, along with the Republicans, with a new political party.

What about mass immigration?

From the sources I've found, it's less about economic factors then it is political. The US creating refugee's through foreign policy, and picking and choosing carefully who gets in and who doesn't (Isn't it funny how many seem to be pro authoritarian, primed to vote for statist rule?)

God help us all if Trump loses in 2020.

Ever since Moscow Mitch, right after Obama's first inauguration, growled, "We're going to make him a one-term president," it seemed clear that the days of the Republican party were numbered. And unless it does some serious soul-searching, and evolving, to meet the changing demographic environment of the 21st century (instead of miring itself in a fictional version of the mid-20th century), I can see it gone, evaporated, by 2100, with little more than residue remaining (just like "The South will rise again!" Yeah.). The fact is, the 1950s will be as relevant to the year 2100 as the 1850s are to us.

The Democratic party will not fare much better. Both have to deal with the issue of diversity. But whereas the Rep party is trying to ignore it, the Dems are bending over backward to accommodate 'Identity politics', and as such will fracture into (at least) two new parties: one of Radical Progressives (and IMO its antecedent currently does not see the fine line between justice and revenge -- this does not bode well for the party's future), and a party of 'Conservative Progressives'. In effect, we'll have the same 'Left/Right' dynamic we have today, just the whole shebang will have shifted more leftward (ie, relative to today).

Regardless of the players on the political stage, parties change. The partisan makeup 100 years ago is not the same as today, and it won't be the same 100 years from now.
