As for this point, I think too many people have applied logic in a situation where it need not be applied. So many people say that Lucas said there was no father to illustrate the Jesus parallel. I disagree. I think he did it simply so that there would never be any way for someone to eventually come up with the idea of Anakin's father. Kind of a "this is where the story starts...period" tactic. But, the immaculate conception idea certainly lends itself to his thinking.
There was an interview with Liam Neeson and where Shmi (Can not remember her real name) when they did that scene that they had to stop a moment and laugh at the comparison of the scene and where it was derived from. They too thought it strange to be doing that scene. LOL
