yes s&m, I know you don't care about 2000+ u.s. deaths in one day, and a new average of 1200+ deaths per day. After all, you're human garbage

Partial herd immunity means that there still more pain left for places like Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Texas. However, Texas is further along, just slightly behind Florida. Florida is not anywhere near the end but it should be beyond its peak.

CA, as I said prior, still has some pain to go through. Lots of it. They will surpass their daily death numbers, set on Aug 04, in a few days or over the next 2 week. CA is only about halfway as far as Florida in hitting partial herd immunity. I sure hope CA is learning from NY's and NJ's mistakes and taking very good care of their elderly and vulnerable.

California Gov. Newsom issues lockdown order over coronavirus spike; one sheriff from a large county has already refused to enforce it

Why should any county comply?

You don’t think the lockdowns help with the spread of corona? Or you think it’s not appropriate even though it would help?

I don't think people in a state should have to comply with guidelines their own governor refuses to comply with.

Newsom isn't the only one pulling this shit. Mayor of Chicago attended some Biden celebration in the streets, arguing it would happen whether or not she was there.

You think she'd give private citizens that same pass?

I understand the hypocrisy angle, I guess I still think that complying with these orders is good for people over all, even if some of the elected officials are hypocrites or flaunt the rules.

Somehow I don't think a California business owner would be sympathetic to that argument while his governor skips around all "tra la la rules are for lesser men".

It comes off like they do not take this virus seriously and that it was all about politics. It was the same impression they gave off when they scolded folk for not social distancing...unless it was at a protest.

If Trumps rhetoric about the virus is, according to some, getting people killed then Newsoms actions surely will as well.

According to the published research; results duplicated, and peer reviewed; no, they do not help. In fact, in some situations, they cause spikes in cases because it packs people closely together that otherwise would not be, in dwellings, spreading the virus, faster.

I posted on this topic maybe 50 times, now.

It's likely going to get worse: "We expect daily deaths to reach a peak of over 2,500 a day in mid-January" -IHME modeling team 11/19/20

We're also on track to hit or surpass the 300K deaths model by the new year the IHME predicted months ago.
