there are 4 (3) types of adults here:
1- those who are vaccinated and have now gone "back to normal", shopping maskless
2- those who are vaccinated, yet continue to make some effort to not catch covid, which includes masked shopping (like me, probably the minority)
3- antivaxxers who will not continue spreading the virus without a care, because only they matter. (most republicans)
4- antivaxxers who continue to mask up as instructed, out of honesty and consideration for public safety (no such americans exist)

There will be a lot of maskless intermingling between #1 and #3, and while nearly all of group #1 will be unharmed and non-contagious if they catch covid, they will still catch it.

So what we could see is another spike in deaths, but most of those deaths will be from the anti-vaxxer crowd.

I get my second shot two weeks today. I can then travel, at last.

"The share of Republicans and Republican leaners who say the effect of science on society has been positive is down 13 points since 2019 (from 70% to 57%). Among Democrats and Democratic leaners, 78% see the impact of science positively, which is little different from the 77% who said this two years ago. -Pew Research 2021

The constant anti-science drivel from Rightist is really taking a toll. eg Tucker Carlson is still casting doubt on the vaccines. Though he refuses to answer if he's taken one of the vaccines himself.

huzzah!

It’s nice to see every post made here is about political talking points and points and percentages about more nonsense. Most people don’t live their lives like this, maybe a few random corners of the internet do. Strange to come here and it’s Republicans this Democrats that. You would think you wanted to kill someone who didn’t agree with you. If after all, the only thing one seems to come up with is division and blaming a political party, seemly for everything. Odd way to live indeed.

I'm acquainted with a man who has fallen into a quiet paranoia and ever more conservative attitudes. Getting into guns and food stockpiling out of fear of a coming civil unrest. Anti-vax. Anti-masker. Plandemic. Anti-science. Climate change denier. Chiropractic.

That shit was always there, but the indulgence of right-wing pundits (Canadian ones, anyway) over the course of the pandemic has pushed him into waters he was only eyeing before.

Trump advised people not to wear masks, yet got infected and vaccinated himself as did most of his staff. That’s not just hypocrisy but arrogant borderline racist or elitist.

Sounds like DDM, how is he?

Sounds like a housemate I had at university who was racist, believed in ghosts, god and feng shui so the furniture in the living room was his and how he liked it, even though it was just annoyingly getting in the way of things.

Total dough.

Happened here too, on a larger scale cos there's no shortage of these types of nutters in the US.

My county has about a 17% vac rate and while I am generally against the govt grain my family is all 2nd vaccinated. Most ppl now shop without masks (not that I care vaccinated and the kid is about to get his) that's where we are.

Got my 2nd jab about 10 days ago, still wearing the mask though, but once my super powers develop I may change it up to a cape/cowl. Staying away from choosing a name and emblem until my powers develop, I'd look pretty stupid calling myself something like Giraffeman if my power turned out to be shooting ink at people.

how is your body adapting to the 5G-BLM-Antifa mind controlling self replicating nanobots that they injected into your bloodstream?

I've yet to wake up in the middle of the night standing over the dead body of a political activist, so it's not too bad so far.

But it’ll make you a cuckold and a fgot and gay. :/

Is your country predominately Republican/Conservative?

Yup SW Missouri, I'm on the border with Greene and Christian county.

https://showmestrong.mo.gov/data/public-health/county/

That report shows us from last June until now in Christian (has the third largest city in MO) which I believe is 90 deaths.

Over 9k for the total state.

Vote Clinton and wave the Bible in people’s faces…

Read an article earlier saying Japan has well and truly shit the bed. Just goes to show what happens when those in power espouse racism and xenophobia, and an ageing population pays the price.
