Alabama Hospitals: We Have "Negative 29" ICU Beds
According to the Alabama Hospital Association, there were negative 29 intensive care beds available in the state on Wednesday night as the strain caused by the latest COVID surge continues. Those figures mean there are 29 more patients in need of ICU beds than the total available statewide.
Alabama Hospital Association Deputy Director Danne Howard told WSFA the highest ICU bed deficit is in the southeastern region of the state in an area that includes Troy and Dothan.
MS Quarantines 20,000 Students After 6,000 Test Positive for COVID
More than 20,000 students in Mississippi were quarantined due to coronavirus exposures over the past week, according to Mississippi state health department data released Tuesday. Nearly 6,000 have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past two weeks, and two have died.
The state health department reported only 199 at the same point in August 2020, compared with this year's 5,993.
Republican Governor Tate Reeves opposes mask mandates in schools. The situation and the deaths of at least two teenagers from COVID-19 since late July has led to increased calls for Governor Tate Reeves to reverse his opposition to a statewide mask mandate and take aggressive action to stem the viral tide.

Absolutely.
Similar with Trump, his incompetence and "this is nothing, we've got it, masks are for cucks" approach put people needlessly in danger and ultimately cost lives.
Florida, Texas Turn to Antibody Treatments as Covid-19 Surges
The drugs from Regeneron, Eli Lilly and others went largely unused for months, but are embraced now to fight the latest coronavirus wave
Doctors are increasingly turning to antibody drugs in a bid to keep hospitals from being overwhelmed by a surge of Covid-19 cases, a turnabout after months in which the treatments went mostly unused. -snip
Seems like pushing simple mask mandates and people getting a vaccine would have just been easier.
Florida and Texas have accounted for 40% of new coronavirus hospitalizations in the last week.

Alabama crowd boos Trump for urging supporters to get vaccinated
“I believe totally in your freedoms,” Trump said, according to CNN. “I do, you’re free, you got to do what you have to do. But I recommend taking the vaccines. I did it, it’s good, take the vaccines.”
The 45th president appeared to take the jeers in stride, reiterating that he believed the rally-goers had a fundamental right to make their own decision.
“That’s OK. That’s all right. That’s good, you got your freedoms,” Trump said. “But I happen to take the vaccine. If it doesn’t work, you’ll be the first to know. OK.” -snip
Better late than never, so props to Trump for finally trying to protect him own zealots.
But it's delicious that they're eating themselves again. So good.
