FL Tweaked COVID Data to Show Decline in Deaths

Florida on Thursday reported 21,765 more COVID-19 cases and 901 deaths to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. All but two of the newly reported deaths occurred after July 25th, with about 78% of those people dying in the past two weeks.
The majority of deaths happened during Florida's latest surge in COVID-19 cases, fueled by the delta variant.
It is the largest single-day increase to the death total in the state's COVID pandemic history.
As cases ballooned in August, the Florida Department of Health changed the way it reported death data to the CDC, giving the appearance of a pandemic in decline.
On Monday, Florida death data would have shown an average of 262 daily deaths reported to the CDC over the previous week had the health department used its former reporting system. Instead, the Monday update from Florida showed just 46 "new deaths" per day over the previous seven days. The dramatic difference is due to a small change in the fine print.
If you chart deaths by Florida's new method, based on date of death, it will generally appear—even during a spike like the present—that deaths are on a recent downslope. That is because it takes time for deaths to be evaluated and death certificates processed. When those deaths finally are tallied, they are assigned to the actual data of death—creating a spike where there once existed a downslope and moving the downslope forward in time.
Ivermectin, A 40-Year Old Anti-Parasitic Now Embedded In A Covid-19 Culture War
Ivermectin is a broad spectrum anti-parasitic, with approved uses in animals and humans. The drug was developed in the late 1970s. In veterinary medicine, it is indicated to prevent and treat heartworm. In humans, ivermectin is indicated for, among other conditions, two neglected tropical diseases, river blindness (onchocerciasis) and lymphatic filariasis.
Bizarrely, in right-wing political circles, ivermectin has become increasingly popular as an antidote to Covid-19. The drug is embroiled in a Covid-19 culture war that pits (as yet) unproven treatments against proven measures, such as vaccines. On Friday, August 27th, in a speech at the Texas Youth Summit, Representative Louie Gohmert touted ivermectin as an effective treatment for Covid-19, despite there being no substantiated scientific evidence to back this up.
Gohmert is not alone in spreading misinformation. Social media is rife with assertions that ivermectin is beneficial for preventing and treating Covid-19. As a result, in a number of states poison control centers are being inundated with calls from people who’ve taken ivermectin and are experiencing severe adverse effects. In response, the Food and Drug Administration has been urging people not to ingest ivermectin, with colorful tweets like this one: “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.” -snip
Trumpers will cite "a lack of research" as a reason to not take the covid vaccines, but here they are popping horse pills that treat parasites because some Youtuber told them it works and is safe.
Imagine having to tell adults that they're "not a horse or a cow" as a measure so they don't poison themselves.

"FL Tweaked COVID Data to Show Decline in Deaths"And no sensible person is surprised. DeSantis needs to resign, he's killing people with his insane policies and then trying to cover it up
I wonder where those same people are now with what DeSantis is doing. It's almost like they only care when it's a politically advantageous for them

Robtard remembers, it's in this thread.
They're pretending like it's not happening or claiming it's "fake news" in regards to DeSantis as per their MO.

A Florida judge ruled Friday that the state overstepped its authority in restricting school districts from enacting mask mandates after parents sued officials amid a surge of coronavirus infections.Judge John Cooper of Florida's Second Circuit sided with parents from six Florida counties who challenged Ron DeSantis and state education officials in court this week, arguing that the governor's order infringes on classroom safety guaranteed by the state's constitution.
In a milestone decision in the heated debate about mask mandates in Florida, Cooper ordered that the state cannot require districts to offer voluntary mandates over "the preservation of general welfare," comparing the masking issue to the difference between the right to drink alcohol and the criminality of drunk driving.
Florida businesses and governments that require proof of COVID-19 vaccination from customers or members of the public will soon face $5,000 fines, according to a new Department of Health rule.
Earlier this year, the Republican-led Florida Legislature passed a bill, SB 2006, banning businesses, governments, and schools from requiring "vaccine passports."
On August 27th, the department filed a rule that lays out how it will enforce the measure. Businesses, governments, and schools will be fined $5,000 "per individual and separate violation," the rule states. That is the maximum penalty allowed by law.

FL School District Changes Rules After Chiropractor Signs 500+ Mask Exemptions
A chiropractor in Venice provided more than 500 medical exemption forms for children attending Sarasota County Schools who did not want to wear a mask. Dan Busch, a chiropractor at Twin Palms Chiropractic, has signed roughly one-third of all medical exemption forms turned in district-wide, district spokesman Craig Maniglia said Wednesday morning.
After the influx of forms signed by Busch, and amid rumors that his office was distributing pre-signed forms, Superintendent Brennan Asplen issued an updated mask exemption form Tuesday evening stating that exemption forms can only be signed by medical doctors, osteopathic physicians, and licensed or advanced registered nurse practitioners.
