Tens of thousands of children in the U.S. have lost parents or caregivers as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, with children of racial and ethnic minorities bearing the brunt of the tragedy. A new study published Thursday in the journal Pediatrics estimates 142,637 children under age 18 have lost a parent or caregiver from April 2020 through June 2021.

An estimated 129,630 children lost a primary caregiver to COVID-19, while another 22,007 lost a secondary caregiver, for example, a grandparent who provided the child housing but not other basic needs.

"Children facing orphanhood as a result of COVID is a hidden, global pandemic that has sadly not spared the United States," Susan Hills, a researcher with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and lead author of the study, said in a statement.

I'm sure all the pro-lifers will be adopting them any day now.

I agree that Women and Men should take precautions before having sex if they don't want kids.

But birth control isn't 100% effective.

He didn't say use birth control. He said just don't have sex.

That still wouldn't help the children who've lost their parents to coronavirus. His pro-life stance goes out of the window depending on the source of the deaths.

This is what I mean that he is brainwashed into taking certain stances. There's no consistent or thought out morals with him.

I don't see what the problem with all the people against getting the shots.

I am fully vaccinated, have proof. I know some very very sick people with all kinds of health issues and they are fully vaccinated now with NO PROBLEMS. The anti vax people need to stfu, get the shots and lets get back to a kind of normal life.

That would solve of the problem of you forcing your beliefs onto others over what they can and can't do with their own bodies.

In the US, most of the "pro-lifers" as they call themselves are just fetus fanatics clutching at pearls, once the baby is born, they really can't be bothered with what happens. Hence the hand-waiving of the adoption problems we have with foster children and kids who can't get daily proper nutrition in the world's wealthiest country. eg The US has over 120,000 kids waiting to be adopted.

If anything, they bitch and moan about how these kids and kids in poor families are draining the system and their tax dollars.

Do not forget the 424,000 who are in foster care.

On any given day, there are 672,000 in the system but 248,000 will be reunited with families or age out, leaving 424,000 who are unhomed.

Sounds like a foster child pandemic
