That is not at all what he said. Someone from the campaign pointed out to him that the phrasing could be misinterpreted, he was right, and the editor changed it. That is not doing the bidding of the campaign. That is someone pointing out your error and correcting it.

Not a crazy out of this world theory. But I doubt it.
Though I do think that Obama took in Biden's advice a lot, as did Bush with Cheney, Clinton with Gore etc. That just seems like odd behavior now with Pence being little more than Trump's yes-man.
