5% of a nation is a big number.

"I Thought This Was a Hoax"

San Antonio, Texas—A patient in their 30s died from the coronavirus after attending what's being called a "COVID party," according to Chief Medical Officer of Methodist Healthcare Dr. Jane Appleby.

According to Appleby, the patient became critically ill and had a heartbreaking statement moments before death.

"Just before the patient died, he looked at their nurse and said, 'I think I made a mistake, I thought this was a hoax, but it's not,'" Appleby said.

Appleby made this case public as the spike in cases for Bexar County continues. She wants everyone, especially those in the younger demographic, to realize they are not invincible.

"It doesn't discriminate and none of us are invincible," Appleby said. "I don't want to be an alarmist, and we're just trying to share some real-world examples to help our community realize that this virus is very serious and can spread easily."

In fact, she said the positivity rate has jumped to 22 percent.

"This is a concerning increase from a positive rate of about five percent only several weeks ago," Dr. Appleby said.

Thursday night, the city was reporting nearly 18,000 cases, with more than 1,200 patients in the hospital system.

Yeah, but this is the crap propagated by Ethneo at the extreme end on this forum to DDM as the more reasonable but still safety denier.

This seemed like the right place to post this, face masks have become mandatory in UK shops.

Apparently, this is tantamount to being forced to wear a muzzle. 😐

of course it is nothing like wearing a muzzle, it is just social responsibility.

Thirty-seven-year-old Richard Rose died three days after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

He was a conservative supporter of Donald Trump and frequently derided precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Now a slide show of his social media posts that shows his disdain for coronavirus precautions turning to concern for his own health has swept the internet.

Rose posted support for Trump, made jokes about rape, attacked Black Lives Matter protestors and transgender people, checked in at various local bars and restaurants, and accused Democrats of lying about the dangers of the coronavirus in order to "rig the elections in their favor."

"We were blown away, you know? You hear about this virus and you don't expect it to affect people, younger people like ourselves," Nick Conley, Rose's friend, told Cleveland 19 News. "It's horrible that we lost Rick but the even more tragic part of that is who else became infected because of the actions that he chose."

Conley, however, expressed disappointment that his friend's own words have come back to haunt him.

"Rick is getting slaughtered online right now for his decision that he made not to wear a mask and that’s not right," Conley said. "We should still be compassionate whether we agree with someone's beliefs or not. Someone has passed away and we should have some compassion towards that."

Conley did not explain why people should be compassionate about someone's deliberate decision to endanger others.

Man, covid is so scary. I do feel bad for these people even if they were in a lot of ways awful, and their misguided actions contributed not only to their own suffering and death but also to the spread of it, ultimately I do think the blame lies with the partisan nature of the US system, and the people peddling lies for their own financial and political gains, more so than the people duped by said propaganda.

Yea, I also feel somewhat bad for all the rioters that are gathering in the thousands and helping to spread this deadly virus. I wish all our so called leaders would do something about it.

This is all you got? Good thing most people in America and worldwide see through this far right narrative.

These people, clearly any human life is precious.

i don't disagree at all, this is why we have to actively confront the gaslighters everywhere.

Earlier this week, Chuck Woolery tweeted that everyone except Trump was lying about COVID 19. Then just days later, he tweeted that his son tested positive and turn shortly afterwards deleted his twitter. Most likely to avoid the backlash, but in this day and age, when you post something on the internet, it's usually there forever. Because even if you delete something, somebody can easily just take a screenshot and save it.

I hope his son recovers, but if the son is an adult and had a similar mindset as his father, then he should take his own responsibility for accepting medical advice from someone who's not an expert in the medical field.

Yet, you yourself are the biggest gaslighter. Everything about you is fake.

I do not. These people do not have empathy or conscientiousness, so personal consequences are the only way they will learn.
