Lazar Hayward, a former N.B.A. player, was arrested in Hawaii last week for trying to enter the state with a fake negative COVID test, the authorities said.
Hayward, a first-round draft pick in 2010, and a woman traveling with him, Raven Randle had uploaded the fake documents onto Hawaii's Safe Travels portal, the police on the western Hawaiian island of Kauai said in a statement.
The state requires unvaccinated travelers to quarantine for 10 days upon arrival unless they present a negative COVID test. Hayward, 34, and Ms. Randle, 33, are to appear in court, but a date has not yet been set. Phone calls placed to a number listed as belonging to Hayward were not returned on Monday night.

What a couple of retards, they could have avoided this by either quarantining or taking a simple covid test.

Anti-Mask/Vax KY GOP Candidate Dies of COVID
Katie Howard, who was a runner-up in the race for the Republican nomination for the state Senate District 7 seat, passed away at the age of 68 late last month.
Howard was instrumental in founding the Anderson County Republican women's group, of which she was president. Howard was also a volunteer in one of U.S. Representative Andy Barr's re-election campaign.
At an event held on the state Capitol steps titled "Unmask Kentucky," whose participants railed against COVID-19 restrictions and Governor Andy Beshear, Howard appealed to the more than 100 attendees to run for local elected office. "It all starts from the ground up," Howard said.

Pete Coulson, a member of Lieutenant Governor Janice McGeachin's e̶d̶u̶c̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ indoctrination task force, recently died from COVID-19, conservative talk radio host Bill Colley reported Thursday.
After at least three weeks of hospitalization, during which his oxygen levels were depleted, Coulson died sometime between October 1st and Wednesday, according to Colley's report. "Pete was a very healthy 67. He would tell people he was vaccinated in Christ. He didn't fear death," Colley wrote.
Coulson joined the task force in June, replacing Idaho School Boards Association President Jason Knopp, who withdrew from the group that targeted alleged "leftist" teachings in public schools over four summer meetings.

He abruptly quit as chairman of the Texas GOP in June after just a year—a tenure marked by his adoption of a slogan that mirrors QAnon language.

A Texas man has been charged in federal court with making threats to former Baltimore health commissioner Dr. Leana Wen because of her support of COVID-19 vaccines. An indictment against Scott Eli Harris, 51, was unsealed Tuesday in Maryland U.S. District Court, charging Harris with using a mobile phone to send threatening messages to Wen in July.
"Never going to take your wonder drug. My 12-gauge promises I won't," Harris wrote. "I'm a 5th generation U.S. Army veteran and a sniper. I can't wait for the shooting to start." He also used ethnic slurs and other offensive language against Wen, who was born in China, but moved to the United States when she was 8.
Woman Busted with 21 Fake Vax Cards in Traffic Stop
A Westchester County woman was arraigned Tuesday on felony forgery charges after a traffic stop for a bogus license plate tag led to the discovery of 21 fraudulent COVID-19 vaccination record cards, authorities said.
Diana Finlay, 53, was charged in Harrison Town Court with five counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument nearly three weeks after she was pulled over when sharp-eyed police spied the phony plate, said Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah.
The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison if convicted. The minimum penalty is probation without jail time. Finlay is due back in court for a December 7th appearance.
Anti-Vax AK State Senator Sick with COVID
Two Republican state senators in Alaska have tested positive for COVID-19 and one has been leveraging her platform on Facebook to tout a cocktail of vitamins and ivermectin as a miracle cure while railing against recommendations by public health officials.
"Its my turn to battle Covid head on...game on!" Republican state Senator Lora Reinbold wrote on Facebook on Tuesday night.
Senator David Wilson also tested positive and a third lawmaker, Senator Click Bishop, tested negative in a first test after feeling sick.
Reinbold claimed she was taking matters into her own hands, and was using a Vick's steamer while downing a slew of vitamins, zinc, aspirin, and the parasitic drug ivermectin, which has not been proven to treat COVID.
"I am blessed to have gotten Ivirmectin [sic] the 'de-covider,'" she added, promising those following along on social media that she would provide periodic updates, and stay out of the hospital.
Reinbold has been an ardent opponent of COVID-19 vaccine requirements in Alaska, which has been among the hardest-hit states amid the Delta variant surge in recent weeks.
She backed legislation to bar businesses and local governments from requiring vaccinations, a favored tactic among GOP lawmakers who have boosted their political profiles by defying public health measures intended to curb the spread of the virus.
Reinbold has also routinely balked at mask requirements.
Last month, she was excused from attending floor votes for the remainder of the year after she told legislative leaders she could not fly back and forth to Anchorage because she got into a dispute with staffers on Alaska Airlines when she refused to wear a mask.
In April, Reinbold was banned indefinitely from flying on Alaska Airlines after repeatedly refusing to wear a mask as required by federal transportation authorities.
The positive tests in the legislature come after Anchorage Assembly leaders last week canceled a meeting because Mayor Dave Bronson's office said two staffers had tested positive for COVID, and members who had attended a Thursday meeting came into "really close contact" with them.
At that meeting, Reinbold challenged the proposal for a citywide mask ordinance.
