O.K. That's fair enough. I agree it would be nicer if people were polite but the main people propagating Covid misinformation are trolling for a reaction. I think we can agree on this too.

Of course they are. And one of two things will happen: They'll either stop, or get perm-banned. I fully admit I like to give people second, third and fourth chances, but even I have my limits.

So your response to me saying I don't believe you can be civil with each other is to... not be civil?

Okay then, change my mind. Why should we allow a covid thread?

😂

not interested in trying to convince anyone who is already convinced that they're right. just continue your policy of "ban everyone", and be frustrated when the only ones who return are the same gaslighting time wasters, who will return in literally 10 seconds under a new accoint, once again facing zero penalty. I'm past the point of caring🤷‍♂️

Banning isn't a penalty? I mean, what else do you want me to do?

banning is only a penalty when the banned member has the good graces to not easily and immediately make a new and obvious sock account, basically telling you mods to shut up and go suck eggs, after which you seem to do just that.

We ban sock accounts all the time. We don't have the tools to do much more than that.

a convincing argument about the uselessness of banning derailing time wasters. maybe you can see my point
about how mass bannings are ineffective and unfair to everyone except the sock troll, who is rewarded for their efforts by having others banned. Maybe then you'll go out on a very thick limb and guess that banning is ironically only a punishment for those who cooperate with your policy

Nah, Whirly created socks all the time. So have you and I.

The way this site is run, I don't think the mods can do much more than be vigilant and hand out bans where they see fit.

The only reason mass-bannings were considered was because it was believed (and it still is) that a lot of you can't (or rather won't) behave yourselves. And let's be fair, it isn't just me who thinks this.

If you have an alternative suggestion though, I'm all ears.

bandwagon fallacy will not prove anything. i don't believe you're open to suggestion at all.

How is it a fallacy? You just have to ask the other mods. I'm not gatekeeping them from you. We've all seen the posts you guys have made. The shit you fling at each other. It's right there in the posts.

I said I was so if you don't believe me, that's on you.

then stand victorious as no covid discussuin is allowed in the forum.

sorry mods, yall seem like you're probably cool irl, but here you are obviously operating in bad faith with your "both sides blah blah", and "herp derp nobody is innocent"

stop acting like this is a real job, or that you've behaved professionally over this. just close the thread to reward the trolls like everyone knows you're going to do.

Posting on KMC isn't a job either. Mods are tired of the nonsense and bickering which arise in certain threads. The GDF in its entirety is to blame for debate about covid, not mods.

😂 My fav'rit brand too!

Don't ban the accounts and let people use the ignore function at their leisure that way they won't have to see posts from other members they don't want to engage with. This might be beneficial due to a certain mentally unstable constant unrelated youtube video poster who's had about a million accounts in recent months and who permabanning does nothing.

For me, this is one of the few places left where everyone doesn't break into their little cliques and have e-circlejerks. I quite like engaging with people with different opinions to my own cos, for me at least, even when it does descend into a little bit of mutual flaming it usually doesn't last long.

Do you think the problem could be fixed by having a more clear op ?

For example, if the op specifically said this is a politicized thread for pro vax (aka more likely to be left) people to complain about, celebrate the death, of people who oppose the vax then I think it would have worked out better. This would have also lead to a right wing anti vax specific thread imo

I don't think every OP should be a lengthy list of all the specific rules the thread starter wants us all to adhere to, that would lead to people calling for temp bans for even going slightly off topic in a thread or posting a laugh emoji.

The current method we have of assuming we understand and keep to the general theme of the thread's intent is usually more than enough. Until people start trying to derail threads intentionally that is.

Okay, I didn't realize that. I was in fact derailing then and am sorry. I felt indignant because I thought it was once again a partisan/political issue.

Thank you for telling me.

Any other anti vax dummies get sick lately ?
