That person probably got into a bike wreck or something. When you punch, you can present two knuckles or 3 knuckles so him having scrapes on all 4 knuckles and his finger joints indicates probably dragging his knuckles across something rough like concrete or pavement.

Here's an example of what I was talking about (a motorcyclist (pro) got into an accident) and it scrapes up your knuckles like you posted:
