Colossus, no contest.

Gargan would have better chances without the symbiote... and the symbiote's chances would be better without Gargan as a host, lol.

They just didn't mix well.

👆 The fight ended early but Colossus was getting the upper hand. It was shown in pieces over a couple issues, hence the art style change.

They met some more times during that arc, but we never saw the full fights on panel, although it's implied Piotr won those too.

Regardless, Cipher and Surge just decided not to help Colossus fight lololol. I get Colossus is their senior and told them to run, but the girls definitely could have sped that fight up with a 3-on-1. I guess everyone in Marvel is aware Gargan Venom isn't a serious threat.

There is another scan of the fight from a different issue. It's just one panel I think and it shows Gargan slamming his hands on the ground knocking over trolley cars it was actually kinda impressive for Gargan.

Colossus outclasses Gargan in strength and durability but Gargan has speed to his advantage so he initiates the first attack with his tail by whacking him a few times, which would have little or no effect to Colossus. Colossus then counters by either grabbing his tail and slamming him on the ground or doing thunderclaps. When Gargan becomes dazed after suffering that attack, Colossus moves up closer to close combat range and finishes him off by throwing couple of haymakers or literally ripping him and his symbiote suit apart like this:

I'm no symbiote expert but is that seriously how it works?

Yeah, there was a single page like that.

Though I believe it was a shockwave from Piotr and Gargan clashing.

So it was a shared feat.

No.

But if symbiotes have one rule... is that there are no rules.

Only if you're Gargan lol.

I guess Carol texted Colossus about it, because he seemed poised to do it here.

Gargan Venom was weird.

In pure theory, he should've been Brock on steroids.

Alas, he turned out to be a complete joke.

He did much better in that group fight rematch, though.

It does open up some great ideas for stories using their powers inventively, but... yeah.

They've done their best to ruin the symbiotes.

And yeah, sure, writers can get really creative with them. But new writers can come and erase everything, since there is zero consistency.

Gargan was set on fire before that, to be fair.

Fraction at his laziest. Both teams stalemated each other in one big, chaotic fight. Waste of Deodato's art talent.

Then Osborn ran away when X-Men sicced the news reporters on them.

Yeah. I researched him a bit (Brock Venom I mean) when I was practicing my writing. Reading more of the older stuff, but if you take it to a logical extent, genetic bonding can do some really cool, weird sci fi shit.

The key word there is "Fraction". It explains everything.

Older stuff is good.

I loved Venom back in the day. But if you keep playing with how it all works, it eventually stops working.

Permanently bonding for the 9999th time =/= not permanent at all.

Eating brains, then eating chocolate... carver-lv writing.

"Oh, I also feed on adrenaline and love to abuse and give cancer to my host, sorry Eddie" - another gem.

It's either a symbiote or a damn parasite.

That stupid cross-over wasted a few issues of Dark Avengers.

Which sucks, as Bendis actually was doing awesome with that comic, but had to take a break and allow Fraction to do his thing, before returning.

Yeah, that wonderfully fragile suspension of disbelief can be tricky.

The only thing I liked about it was that Cyclops planned around Osborn and tricked him. That was a nice feat.

At least Marvel made Brock bond with Venom again. After so many years.

You may hate his methods, but Utopia-era Cyke was pretty damn smart, all things considered.
