FunFact: Modern Palestinians are genetically closer to Jewish people from 2,000 years ago than modern Jews living in Israel now are

👆

Makes sense, given many of those Jews would have become Muslim or Christian. And modern day Jewish people will have a lot of European blood in them.

Shouldn't have invaded.

But who invaded?

I'm far from am expert in the politics of the conflict, but isn't this kind of like Russia taking territory and the world powers backing that claim against Ukrainians?

Just substitute Ukraine for Palestinian.

No, you idiot.

Russia invaded Ukraine, a legitimate country, arguing that ethnic Russians are living there and should be under Russian rule.

So substitute Ukraine for Israel!

Nah hes right. It’s absolutely the same. Saying the Palestinians arent a legitimate state is just a way of dehumanising them.

Israel didnt even exist 100 years ago ffs.

When did Palestine exist?

The Palestinian peoples have been living there for a very long time, under various rulers. eg Ottoman Empire had it for 400 or so years.

Saying they don't belong and that it's not their home is similar to what the US government did with the American Native tribes.

👆 I have many Palestinian friends, often very smart people.

So Arabs are like Native Americans?

I don't know a single one, but there needs to be a two state system put in place. Apartheid is shit regardless where it happens.

Good god, yes!

The Palestinian plight is similar. They're treated like garbage by powers they can't really fight.

Same for the Kurds in Turkey tbh or the Muslims in China or the Christians in CAR.

I'm trying to find the logic in this.

Propaganda in the Muslim world tries to use "anti-Zionism" as a shield for anti-semitism like when white nationalists use words like tradition and immigration for racial purity.

David Duke is a white nationalist, neo-nazi anti-semite and he's an anti-Zionist.

What do you not understand? Some people say, "I do not hate Jews, I hate Zionists" as a shield for anti-semitism. And others say, "Jews are Zionists, and I hate Zionists," as a sword for anti-semitism. It is the same damn thing.

Counter argument; criticising Kanye West is not racism.

Some may argue it IS. Clearly it is not.

To put a point on it, does the fact racists can and will take any opportunity to be racists, mean there can NEVER be any criticisms of a target because bad actors are abusive?

Criticism of an individual is not criticism of a group, unless the critic is also asserting that the individual is representative of the group. Criticism of Kanye West is not a criticism of black people. Do you even logic, bro?

Yes, I literally said the same thing in my post.

Got a taxi from the airport in Berlin. The driver was Kurdish. He hardly spoke any English and I hardly speak any German. Managed to tell him I was from Scotland and he rolled down the window and started screaming "FREE SCOTLAND! FREE KURDISTAN" down the motorway 😂😂

I understand, yes.

It's the logic of anti-zionism covering up anti semitism I address.

I happen to agree with you that an anti-semite will disguise anti semitism as legitimate criticism of Israeli policy. What I'm wondering, is if anti-zionism rhetoric should be off limits because of this fact.

Criticising Israeli policy is not anti-Zionism, not recognising Israel as a nation, is.

Isn't Zionism about Israel being strictly Jewish though?

Again, Sunni are 17% of the citizenship. And as Thor pointed out, many more wish to immigrate for various reasons, including religious reasons, and have difficulty doing so.
