today I experienced a 4.8 earthquake. First earthquake I didn't sleep through. Was a bit frightening. I'm 5 floors up. Felt nothing like I thought it would. Kind felt like they were digging up pavement outside, but multiplied in intensity. Had to Google to confirm it was an earthquake
We will rebuild.

I lived in California for a decade. A 5 is nothing to be worried about. You usually cannot even feel them until they get above a 4.

I’ve experienced one earthquake in my life.In 1999, while in the Army, I was at Ft. Irwin, CA in the Mojave Desert and caught the aftershocks of a 5 point something quake. It lasted about 20 seconds, IIRC.
Scared the living shit out of me.
Not to brag, because I've been in Ca 46 of my 50 years, so I've had countless.
But the worst one for me was the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, 7-something. That shit f*cked shit up.
