The reason the US protects Israel like a little baby is two-folded, it's in our best interest globally and because there's lots of pro-Israel US based money flowing into pockets.

Do I really need to clarify that I don't think all jews everywhere are bad? I would think it's obvious that I am referring to the elites and propagandist media tycoons, not random jewish lawyers in New York or whatever. Hell, Goldberg was one of my favourite wrestlers as a kid. However, there's no way I can agree that protecting Israel has been beneficial for America. The entire reason that the arab world hates the U.S. is the unconditional and endless support for Israel. Without that, there would have been no 9/11, no Afghanistan war, no Iraq war etc. Trillions of dollars and countless lives would have been saved.
Two things can be true at the same time - Israel can benefit from the systematic dismantling of the arab states and the military- industrial complex can make a profit from it.
America obviously benefits from its status as global hegemon. If the USA retreats from the world, there would massive economical problems. There's no way Trump doesn't know it either. That's why it's disappointing that he doesn't take a harsher stance on this.
