No idea how this goes down in a court of law though. Like what sort of evidence a jury would require. I mean obviously a child couldn't be expected to report this at the time.
To your point the Mother should have protected her from any boyfriends/husbands. Like they shouldn't have had any significant alone time together.

If the mother legit didn't know, then I don't blame her at all, in that scenario see married the lie Dadudemon built around himself of being a good family man. He'd often push that image in here of himself.
What I question - the charges were not brought forward until the victim turned 18, at least how the math seems. So did the victim keep the abuse a secret from her mother until then, or did the mother know all along, but did not report and the victim had to wait until she was 18 to do it herself? I suspect the mother did not know, I do hope at least.
