If we're gonna go down that road, I have this to say: It's better to do full body workouts than denoting a day to legs, arms, abs, cardio etc.

In an ideal world, maybe. But most people have muscular imbalances. They may have thin legs that are resistant to growth to start with. So if they only do whole body workouts, their legs will not catch-up to the rest of their body. If you workout piecemeal, then you can tailor it to your body.

Not really. Unless your options are no workout vs. 2 whole body workouts a week? Yeah, I agree.

But the science does not support a whole body workout as being great for muscle building.

You don't have enough energy to make it through a good workout if you do the whole body.

I am talking about resistance training for muscle growth and/or strength.

Really depends on your goals. If your goal is to be lean and fit, full body workouts, 4 days a week, should be great. If you want to be lean, muscular, and strong, split workouts are better. You can do what I do and mix in HIT with resistance training to also check the "fit" box for split workouts.
