star trek's Q is like Dr Manhattan, in that he was created for the sole purpose of being legitimately invincible, making versus forum nerds throw fits of rage.
I see him more as a legacy from the original series.
Half or more of that show was all about mad super gods. TNG was more about the interspecies drama, with Q being a holdover of an earlier time.

"what if god is actually a jerkoff" is definitely a common theme of the original series. it even reappeared in star trek 5
There was a pretty neat comic mini a year or two ago where Q holds a contest with every incarnation of Trek up to Voyager, and invites the Squire of Gothos and a few other gods to the betting table. Squire and Q get along splendidly. The other gods are like "Q is out of his mind."
Also, Q tries and trolls the DS9 wormhole aliens, and time and space are almost ripped apart from it.
Nice little story. Only complaint is they seemed to deliberately downplay Kirk to give everyone a chance to shine, and went a little too far imo.

Anyone else somerimes wonder if partisan media are in cahoots, and just playing off each other for the drama?Fox News sure does make a good "nemesis" for traditional media. Almost like a heel in professional wrestling, to the "babyface".
Which would make us all "marks".
But at the end of the day they are leagues better than Fox News. So what I'm saying is maybe this is a concocted attempt to make average to above average talent look like super stars, either way it doesn't bode well for the people that want to hold Fox News in high esteem.

You don't have news channels. You have opinion journalism. I wouldn't believe US 'news' outlets even when they're reporting the weather or sports results.
The thing that confuses me the most, is how candid people are about the logistics of propaganda. For exampls, they'll admit a government only need rely on unscrupulous owners of media organizations, because the rank and file are mere wage slaves.
This may seem obvious, but I personally think Nazi Germany should have proven faith in our leaders is an absurd concept. By now, we should have worked out ways to not need to trust a captain of our ships to avoid that iceberg.
I mean, really, what has changed now compared to the 1930's and 40's? Nothing at all. We still just trust our leaders to have principles, and only react if we happen to notice they don't.That's the definition of insanity.
