Honestly, I don't think Biden really had a choice in this case.

If he chose someone who was white or if he chose a man, there would be a huge uproar from a large part of the voting base. This was to appease both sides.

She’s also young and healthy so maybe good for those concerned about his age.

Just look back at the debates where Kamela Harris had already accused Biden of being racist on the debate stage with his "busing bill."
