Thor chopped through an infinity beam before nearly killing Thanos, and the only reason he didn't immediately do it was because of how angry he was.

Ares isn't even worth mentioning. He can't hurt Thor with lightning, and his is weak sauce in comparison to Thor's. And physically he has nothing to put him on Thor's level.
