Trump got written briefing on 'Russia bounties', reports sayThe White House is under pressure to explain how much the administration knew about allegations Russia offered the Taliban bounties to kill US troops.
Officials have insisted that President Donald Trump was not "personally" informed of the alleged plot in Afghanistan in 2019.
But reports say the president received a written briefing earlier this year.
There is concern that Mr Trump might have had access to information about threats to US forces but did not act.
The intelligence reportedly arrived amid US attempts to negotiate a peace deal to end the 19-year war in Afghanistan and while Mr Trump sought to improve relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. -snip
^Further confirms why McEnany dodged the 'did the president receive the written report' question a couple days ago and side-step-answered with "he was not personally briefed". Trump had the info, just didn't want to read it.
From page two: "White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany did not answer when asked by reporters whether the information had been included in the president's written briefing, saying only that Mr Trump had not been "personally briefed"." -snip
Afghan War Veteran Talks About Bounties Russia Offered Taliban To Kill U.S. Troops
*interview form*
Consider what - according to U.S. intelligence - we already knew about Russia and its activities overseas. There's the hacking and allegedly ongoing efforts to interfere in U.S. elections. There's the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter over in Britain. And it is against that backdrop that we learned this latest development - reports that Russian military intelligence paid the Taliban to kill American troops in Afghanistan. The New York Times first broke that story. President Trump is denying he was ever told about it.
I want to bring in Aaron O'Connell, a veteran of both President Obama's National Security Council and of the war in Afghanistan. He served with the Marine Corps there and advised General David Petraeus when Petraeus commanded U.S. forces there. -snip
Interesting.

Russia Denies Allegations It Paid Militants To Kill U.S. Troops As 'Nonsense'
"Fake." "Nonsense." "Lies."
The Kremlin reacted the same way the White House did to news reports that U.S. intelligence had allegedly found Russia offered bounties on American troops in Afghanistan.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the initial story in The New York Times demonstrated the "low intellectual abilities of U.S. intelligence propagandists." President Vladimir Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, called subsequent reports "hoaxes" that damage the reputation of the media that publish them. -snip
Putin and Trump are on the same page again.

Do you believe Russia's denial?
No 10 warned by Tory MPs over ‘sinister’ bids to suppress dissent
If I lived in the UK I wouldn't be against this report coming out, but what outcome do you expect here?
Other than people incorrectly trying to blame the outcome of Brexit on Russia? It almost feels like that is a reason why some are pushing for this so hard, to try to cast doubt. Maybe weasel their way into another referendum?
Am I on track here Whirly? I think I am. And I feel such bad faith actors should be told "no" flat out if they try that. The purpose of this should be so they merely can better protect against future interference, not to try to weasel out of things they disagree with.
