He doesnt go up and down, he is more powerful when his darksoul is released and takes control. He spends much of his life fighting to keep his darksoul down, to retain his humanity. When he gets angered enough though he cant succeed. Its why he's gone from protecting a woman to striking her so hard he drew blood to healing her in one story.

Its this constant internal conflict, him fighting his inner demon that makes him such an interesting character to me.

interesting....so youre saying that his powers have been at a static level since inception?

Not quite.

At inception he hadnt fully attained his darksoul. That was why originally he only had powers at night.

Once his darksoul was fully attained however his level has been consistent. The variances are more about how dominant his darksoul, or his human spirit is.

Think of it like a Hulk thing, where anger and rage unlock his darksoul and release his true power. When he's in a hell realm (like his own or his father's) his Netheranium trident draws power from the hell realm and he can do without his dominant darksoul what he could otherwise only do with it. Essentially in his own realm he has the power level hebwould have with his darksoul dominant withiut going full blown demon.

I liked how Hellstrom was able to instantly revitalize Crossbones, after he's been disemboweled and stabbed.

He didnthe same thing to Profeet, and seer entity that was killed by a skyfather (whos namr I forget), one touch from Daimon and he was brought back to life.
