I don't think it would be a first amendment issue anyways, since it is not a government suspending him but a party. At any rate he is objecting to the suspension. It doesn't really matter tbh, it's not like he had power anymore. I just see it as the establishment wing of the party asserting its dominance. Sort of as if Joe Biden kicked Bernie Sanders out of the party (forgetting for a moment that Sanders is an independent and that the US party system works somewhat differently).

It then comes off like they just wanted an excuse to suspend him.

That's how I read it, especially after the way they sacked Rebecca Long-Bailey before, it's just a **** you to the left, imo
