On The Money — China competition bill becomes law
President Biden signed into law on Tuesday bipartisan legislation to provide billions of dollars in incentives to the domestic semiconductor industry and fund scientific research that proponents say will help boost U.S. competitiveness and solve supply chain challenges.

[*]The CHIPS and Science Act, which includes nearly $80 billion in subsidies to bring semiconductor manufacturing back to the U.S., passed the Senate and House late last month.
[*] The White House has billed the legislation as a solution to supply chain challenges laid bare by the COVID-19 pandemic, during which a global chip shortage caused delays in automobile and electronics production that drove up prices.
[*]Still, they acknowledge that the impacts won’t be felt immediately, and that the bill is more of a long-term solution to chronic problems. [/list]
Weird, cos I was told Biden was China's puppet and would sell the US out to China.

New Labour did a lot of that too. But tbf they were at least generous on benefits as well.
Truss is cutting taxes for the richest and benefits for the poorest. I cant even process how mental that is.
The Truss Goverment is a continuation of Tory policies started with Thatcher. She is a little more right than Johnson who was a little more right than Osbourne and Cameron. May was an outlier being relatively Liberal for a Tory on everything but Crime and Punishment as was Major, who is a decent human being.
