Why did the media, justice department and the general public give Eric Rudolf the proper due process but Richard Jewell never got his?

*The FBI has still not cleared Richards name nor did the Atlanta Paper retract their reporting

Eric Rudolf on the other hand pleaded guilty and wrote a 234 page manifest about his crimes.

Thought Richards was cleared and I saw multiple news stories about him being wrongfully accused and how the whole thing was crazy and stupid.

It's a fascinating season. My problem with this kind of show us I have no idea how much is fact and how much is dramatic fiction without fact checking it every step of the way.
