I mean, I want to agree with you, but Trump would just ignored every single advisor who told him there was no evidence down any particular avenue, he just kept moving to a new one. I think real demagogue liars like Trump actually do somehow convince themselves of their lies. I think in some way his ego has convinced him that it's true.

What you say also makes sense, but I believe he knows he lost, he just can't accept it, so he'll do/say anything. It's also a money maker for him. The pockets of his cult go deeper when they feel they were wronged, than just being losers.
eg Trump's known to be someone who cheats at golf (even Pence implied this back in 2016), Trump knows he's cheating but doesn't care because the win is all that matters, not the how.
