No.
Imagine the US as a neighborhood.
Imagine the neighborhood was ran by the mafia.
This mafia makes all the laws and handles all the disputes in the neighborhood, and where it doesn't it wants to.
The mafia also provides/is law enforcement.
The mafia and their cops have a monopoly on force, meaning they can hurt anyone without repercussion or asymmetrical repercussions.
The mafia build and control the schools, by using their law making ability to make it illegal, or very difficult to do alternative methods of education.
The mafia tells people who they can and can't associate with.
The mafia maintains an army in case another neighborhood attacks, but mostly they attack other neighborhoods,
Or topple the leaders of other neighborhoods and instill shadow democracy.
The mafia funds all of this by controlling the neighborhoods currency via hyperinflation, meaning the price of consumer goods go up, and through taxation, which is taking close to half of the people's money.
If you don't pay taxes the mafia through you in their prison.
If you resist, they murder you, and as I already mentioned they have a monopoly on force.
Tell me where this analogy doesn't line up.

I've heard Libertarians like the idea of sales taxes because it avoids taxing income (if it's high enough) and still generates revenue needed for the Government.
No, Libertarians and Republicans like sales tax, because it is disproportionately paid by the poor, and not the wealthy. It allows the rich to have less of their wealth taxed, because they have much more than they spend.

Yes, I've heard that too.
I hate sales taxes myself, not only do I pay income tax, I pay 13% HST on things.
And I'm a broke college student, so sales taxes hurt me more than a well off person.

Taxes always fall on the poor because the rich can manipulate tax code.
Another example of the state giving welfare to billionaires.

The market is a matrix of choices made by free people. Why would you want the mafia added to that mix ?
What youre basically saying is big corporations should rule the nation and the world.
Well news flash for you. They already do.

They can manipulate the tax code because they make sure the tax code is written to favour them.

No, I'm saying individuals should be the sovereign unit, and as a consequence of that their choices would be sovereign. Each consumer would be beholden to every other consumer.
This is the social contract known as the division of labor.
The alternative is violence.
They can only manipulate the tax code, because a tax code exists in the first place.
What Im saying is we're all in a prison and the state is the warden. The gangs in prison have more money than me so they can bribe the warden.
I'm saying the entire prison system is corrupt and you're saying it's the gangs not the warden that's the problem.
