His shields are permeable to oxygen but the man regularly flies into space under his own power. During Asteroid M being in space, he flew outside the Earth causing destruction across the planet. He keeps what oxygen is with him in the shield, unless you believe he's just summoning oxygen in space.
Even having only 1% of iron doesn't stop Magneto from exploding someone.
You'd have to show Mera draining someone whose shields can seal in air, repel light particles, and keep cosmic radiation particles out.
